Innovation and Technology Solutions for Sustainable Food and Water Systems
Time: 13:30 - 14:30(AZT)
Venue: The Resilience Hub
This dynamic dual-panel session explores cutting-edge innovations and policy frameworks in food and water systems, focusing on youth engagement and sustainable financing mechanisms. It will showcase and highlight the role of innovative solutions in both adaptation and mitigation, aligning with global climate goals like resilience enhancement, emission reductions, and sustainable financial flows. The session aims to bridge the gap between technological advancements and policy implementation while addressing the critical food and water security challenges.
The Green Africa Youth Organization (GAYO) and RTI are co-hosting the panel on Policy Frameworks and Financial Mechanisms for Scaling Solutions.
RTI Participants: Jonathan Quebbeman (panelist) and Candise Henry (moderator)
Unleashing the Caribbean's Abundant Renewable Energy Potential
Time: 12:30 - 1:30(AZT)
Venue: CARICOM Pavilion
The Caribbean holds abundant renewable energy resources across solar, wind, geothermal, and even ocean technologies. Innovation is key for expanding these resources to achieve climate ambitions in the region. Advancements like battery storage, offshore energy solutions, and energy auctions are creating new opportunities. When combined with climate finance, smart policies, and public-private partnerships, these innovations have the potential to expand energy access, strengthen climate resilience, and reduce emissions. Learn more about these innovations and their impact at this panel of Caribbean renewable energy specialists.
Advancing Soil Health and Green Fertilizers for Climate, Economic, and Food and Nutrition Resilience
Time: 16:45-17:30(AZT)
Venue: U.S. Center
The climate crisis is intensifying global food and nutrition insecurity and environmental challenges, degrading ecosystems, and highlighting the urgent need for action. Recent disruptions in food, fuel, and fertilizer markets have exposed the vulnerabilities and import dependencies of food systems worldwide, particularly in low-income nations. Investing in soil health and green fertilizer solutions can strengthen food security and nutrition, restore ecosystems, drive sustainable inclusive economic growth, and mitigate climate change while adapting to its impacts.
This event brings together perspectives from research, development, government and the finance community to discuss 1) multi-stakeholder action for addressing financing, implementation and knowledge barriers, and 2) green fertilizer domestic production in Africa, including modeled costs, cost drivers, and developmental impacts.
RTI is proud to sponsor this event alongside World Agroforestry (ICRAF), Coalition of Action 4 Soil Health (CA4SH), and Coalition of Action for Sustainable Productivity Growth (SPG).
RTI Participant: Daniel Lapidus (speaker)
