RTI International partners with Peru's National Water Authority to enhance water resources management

Innovative HydroBID-ALLOC water modeling system supports 27 prioritized basins in Peru

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. – RTI International, an independent scientific research institute, is collaborating with Peru's National Water Authority (ANA) to strengthen water resources management across the country.

This partnership, part of the Climate Action for Water Project (PACA PERÚ), aims to strengthen climate resilience and foster sustainable low-carbon development through pilot projects in the water, energy and transport sectors, aligned with the country's Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).

The project focuses on hydrological modeling of 27 prioritized basins using RTI's innovative HydroBID-ALLOC modeling system.

“By leveraging expertise in water resources management and advanced modeling techniques, RTI is helping Perú address critical water challenges, said Dr. Juliana Corrales, one of RTI’s water resources engineers on the project. “This project exemplifies RTI's commitment to delivering innovative solutions to improving lives around the world.”

RTI experts are conducting work sessions with representatives from Basin Water Resources Councils, the Water Administrative Authorities and the Local Water Authorities to analyze and refine hydrological models for each basin. These sessions aim to gather local knowledge on water use and promote dialogue on integrated water management.

The HydroBID-ALLOC system, developed by RTI, simulates water flow considering climatic and geographical variables, allowing for the evaluation of water resource availability and allocation under various scenarios.
