School districts could solve a number of problems by offering work-based attendance as an alternative to attendance by neighborhood. Work-based attendance would respond to changes in the structure of family life. It would offer a new approach to integrating public schools. It would help to strengthen the connection between school and work. It would also give parents greater control over their children's schooling.(0pp.)
