A new filtration efficiency test method for paint overspray arrestors
Hanley, JT., & Owen, MK. (1999). A new filtration efficiency test method for paint overspray arrestors. In W. Leung, & T. Ptak (Eds.), Advances in Filtration and Separation Technology, Vols 13a and 13b, 1999 (pp. 649-656). American Filtration and Separations Society.
The US EPA recently promulgated the National Emissions Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) for Aerospace Manufacturing and Rework Facilities. Along with other issues, the NESHAP specifies filtration efficiency requirements for dry paint overspray arrestors (not water-wall systems) used on new and existing sources. The NESHAP also defines a new laboratory test method for measuring the filtration efficiency of arrestors: Method 319 "Determination of Filtration Efficiency for Paint Overspray Arrestors." This method is based on several years of work performed by the Research Triangle Institute (RTI) for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
