Contemporary Approaches in Aerosolized Drug Delivery to the Lung
Gupta, PK., & Hickey, A. (1991). Contemporary Approaches in Aerosolized Drug Delivery to the Lung. Journal of Controlled Release, 17(2), 127-147. https://doi.org/10.1016/0168-3659(91)90053-G
Delivery of pharmaceutical aerosols to the lung is discussed with respect to methods of administration, types of drug given by this route and their characterization. Relatively new studies in which greater control of drug delivery is achieved by formulation approaches are also described. The development of the dosage form is outlined and includes methods which may prove advantageous for the delivery of potent biologically active agents, such as those produced by contemporary biotechnological methods
