A comparative study of growth in income, employment and government expenditure in agriculture and industry in Haryana
Grover, RK., Dileep, BK., & Hasija, RC. (2003). A comparative study of growth in income, employment and government expenditure in agriculture and industry in Haryana. Annals of Biology, 19(1), 61-65.
The labour force distribution, labour productivity, and state income and expenditure in agriculture and industry in Haryana, India, were examined based on secondary data for the period 1985-98. Results reveal that although agriculture has been the mainstay of the major part of the total working population in Haryana, the industrial sector may absorb many more of the total working force and thus may ease out the unemployment in the agricultural secotor to some extent. Linear growth rates for state income and expenditure were positive and significant for the agricultural and industrial sectors. However, the growth rate of public expenditure in the industrial sector was higher than that of the agricultural sector. Furhter, industrial income per worker increased at a much faster rate than agricultural income. Results further reveal that ther had been much difference in the labour productivity of industrial and agricultural workers during the period studied.
