Sorrel Wolowacz appointed to Journal of Comparative Effectiveness Research editorial board

MANCHESTER, UK—Sorrel Wolowacz, Ph.D., Head of European Health Economics at RTI Health Solutions (RTI-HS), a business unit of RTI International, has joined the editorial board of the Journal of Comparative Effectiveness Research.

The bi-monthly journal provides a forum for the growing field of research in relative effectiveness of healthcare alternatives, which aims to investigate which health treatments and interventions provide the greatest relative benefits. The journal publishes research articles and informed opinion that help health care providers and patients make evidence-based, patient-centered decisions at the point of care.

To her new editorial role, Wolowacz, an expert in health economics, brings more than 20 years of experience in health outcomes, clinical research, and pharmaceutical and medical device product development. Her expertise spans the areas of health economic modeling, health utility analysis, resource utilization, systematic reviews, as well as formal health technology appraisal within several countries including the UK, Ireland, Australia, and Canada.

"Comparative effectiveness research has been at the core of my research interests for over 15 years," Wolowacz said. "It is a critical component for evaluating healthcare interventions, which underpins the rational selection of care in health care systems that face increasing economic challenges."

Wolowacz is also a peer reviewer for Pharmacoeconomics, European Journal of Health Economics, American Journal of Clinical Oncology, Value in Health and Therapeutics, and Clinical Risk Management. She co-chairs the International Society of Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research's Good Research Practices Task Force addressing Measurement of Health State Utility Values for Economic Models in Clinical Studies.
