Josephine Mauskopf Receives Lifetime Award for Contributions to Improvement of Health Outcomes

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. – Josephine Mauskopf, Ph.D., vice president of Health Economics at RTI Health Solutions, a business unit of RTI International, received the 2013 Avedis Donabedian Outcomes Research Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research.

This year's award honored Mauskopf for her significant and long-lasting contributions to the science of pharmacoeconomics and outcomes research. Specifically, it recognized her thought leadership in the development and application of research methods still considered state-of-the art today, as well as her commitment to these methods.

The award was presented at the 18th Annual International Meeting of the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research in New Orleans on May 20.

Mauskopf brings extensive experience, both as a consultant and as a designer and implementer of pharmacoeconomic research strategies within the pharmaceutical industry. She has designed pharmacoeconomic research programs for many disease states, including central nervous system, infectious disease, cardiovascular, oncology and HIV.

Examples of her work include development of methodological guidance for budget impact, cost-effectiveness of drug therapies, and outcomes analyses for new health care interventions.

Mauskopf has presented her research at numerous national and international symposia and is an author of more than 140 peer-reviewed publications. She has served as editor-in-chief of Value in Health and as a reviewer on the Health Care Technology and Decision Sciences Study Section at the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality.

The Lifetime Achievement Award was established in honor of the late Avedis Donabedian to acknowledge individuals who have made a major and sustained contribution to the improvement of health outcomes through scholarly or other contributions. A renowned faculty member of the University of Michigan School of Public Health, Donabedian dedicated his life to improving the quality of health care and health care systems.
