RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. — Triangle Business Journal recognized G. Edward "Eddie" Story, senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary at RTI International, as one of the top corporate counsels in the Triangle.
The Corporate Counsel of the Year Awards honor outstanding attorneys who keep the business world running. The recipients are in-house lawyers who are business leaders in the Triangle and have been involved in charities and philanthropic activities in the area.
"These are the talented individuals protecting the interests of their companies and helping organizations with vision and strategy," said Bryan Hamilton, publisher of Triangle Business Journal.
Story was named senior vice president, general counsel, and corporate secretary of RTI in 2008. He also serves as RTI's chief ethics officer and oversees government relations, commercialization, and international security functions.
Prior to his current role, Story served as assistant general counsel and assistant corporate secretary at RTI. He was a private practice attorney in Wilmington, N.C., prior to joining RTI in 1990.
He is a member of various professional associations, including the Association of Corporate Counsel and the North Carolina and Wake County Bar Associations. Story also serves on the boards of the WakeMed Foundation and the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina.
Story was named among Business North Carolina's Legal Elite for 2010 and 2011, a listing of the state's top lawyers in business-related categories by Business North Carolina magazine.
He holds a Juris Doctorate from Campbell University School of Law and a bachelor's degree from Wake Forest University.
