Terri Dempsey

Terri Dempsey has over 23 years of experience in school-based research and program evaluation in K-12 education. Her work includes research on programs to promote school safety, school-based mental health services, social and emotional learning, STEM project-based learning, and college and career readiness. 

Ms. Dempsey specializes in recruiting districts and schools into large- and small-scale research studies involving multiple treatment arms. She has led recruitment, logistics, and data collection for numerous nation-wide studies conducting staff and student surveys, in-depth qualitative interviews and focus groups, classroom observations, and extant data collection. She has overseen many other aspects of the research process, including project management and coordination, instrumentation, data management, analysis and interpretation, and report writing for qualitative and quantitative data.

Ms. Dempsey has contributed to several longitudinal studies across multiple RTI practice areas – Education, Justice, and Health - funded by such clients as the U.S. Department of Education, U.S. Department of Justice, U.S. Department of Defense, U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the National Institute of Mental Health, and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, in addition to projects funded through several other foundations and philanthropic organizations.
