Nitin A. Patil is a leading medicinal chemist at RTI International’s Center for Drug Discovery, specializing in antimicrobial peptides, oligonucleotide-based therapies, and advanced drug delivery systems.

His current research projects include: antimicrobial drug development, therapeutic applications of peptide nucleic acids, insulin-family peptides and RXFP-GPCR signaling and bio-orthogonal conjugation chemistry. 

Dr. Patil's expertise in drug development, solid-phase peptide synthesis, and conjugation and drug delivery systems contributes significantly to RTI's mission of advancing therapeutic solutions for infectious diseases and antimicrobial resistance

Before joining RTI in 2024 Dr. Patil served as an Australian NHMRC Peter Doherty Fellow and Group Leader at Monash University. He was also a Post-doctoral research Fellow at Florey Institute in Melbourne, Australia. 

Dr. Patil has authored over 34 peer-reviewed publications in prestigious journals including Nature Communications and Journal of Medicinal Chemistry and has contributed to drug candidates now in clinical trials.

He is an active member of several professional organization and currently serves as the Chair of the Early Career Researcher Cohort for The Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, a prestigious journal in the field of drug discovery and medicinal chemistry.
