Michelle McCombs

Michelle McCombs is a seasoned chemist and exposure scientist at RTI International, with over two decades of experience in conducting human subjects studies involving both adult and child participants. She joined RTI in 1999 and has since established herself as an expert in health exposure research and protective equipment testing. 

McCombs currently leads projects serving both federal and commercial clients. As project manager and study participant coordinator, she oversees the testing of protective equipment for military and first responders, ensuring compliance with safety standards and managing testing logistics. 

McCombs is also responsible for recruiting and managing study participants, ensuring accurate data collection, and facilitating communication between research teams and participants. 

During her tenure at RTI, McCombs has conducted a diverse range of health exposure studies, including: Assessing pesticide exposures among children and farm workers and examining personal air pollution levels in relation to proximity to roads. The studies included designing and implementing research protocols, collecting and analyzing data, and presenting findings to clients. 

With a strong background in analytical chemistry, McCombs brings exceptional attention to detail in quality control and assurance to all her projects. Her expertise in managing human subjects studies, combined with her technical knowledge, makes her a valuable asset in exposure science research and protective equipment evaluation.
