McCaila Ingold-Smith is a manager of education research at RTI, where she leads data collection on the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) and the International Computer and Information Literacy Study (ICILS) for the U.S. Department of Education.  She also serves as the associate project director for the California Youth Tobacco Survey (CYTS).

Previously, Ms. Ingold-Smith led data collection for the Middle Grades Longitudinal Study of 2017–18 (MGLS:2017). Her expertise includes designing data collection systems, running large-scale field training, developing survey instruments, monitoring school recruitment and data collection production, and recruiting and hiring field staff.
