Martha Wewer

Martha Wewer is honored to be RTI’s Global Privacy Officer with over 14 years of experience in privacy and data protection. She holds her Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States (CIPP/U) from the International Association of Privacy Professionals and is certified in Cybersecurity Board Readiness from Duke University’s Sanford School of Public Policy. Ms. Wewer collaborates with researchers on all manners of privacy-related questions - issues of data-sharing, disclosure, consent and authorization with research participants. She handles RTI’s compliance with all applicable US state, Federal and International data protection regulations, including HIPAA, GDPR, and CIPSEA. Recently, she has joined a cross-institute team exploring Privacy and Artificial Intelligence at RTI. 

Ms. Wewer earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of California, San Diego and her Juris Doctorate from the University of San Diego, School of Law. 

Ms. Wewer lives in Holly Springs with her husband Tim, two children Zoey and Elliot, and two yellow labs, Sadie Belle and Maisy Lou. In her spare time, she enjoys running, Peloton, yoga and fostering dogs.
