LaChawn Smith

Dr. LaChawn Smith is an education consultant in RTI’s Center for Education Services. A former deputy superintendent, chief academic officer, principal coach, and chief equity, diversity and inclusion officer, her work focuses on instructional coaching support, curriculum implementation, and designing and delivering professional development. She works to improve teaching and learning outcomes for students and create success cultures within schools. She helped develop a curriculum for the Texas Education Agency that included online and print teacher’s guides, student resources, and instructional materials for three career cluster courses in the Education and Training Program.

Dr. Smith is a member of the North Carolina Association of School Administrators and was previously president of the North Carolina Principals and Assistant Principals’ Association for New Hanover County Schools.  She has professional licensure as a superintendent and school administrator along with special education licensure. Additionally, she has a professional certification in Facilitative Leadership.
