Bethany Vanspronsen is a research education analyst at RTI with more than 10 years of experience conducting research in the social sciences. Since joining RTI in 2015, Ms. Vanspronsen has specialized in survey research and data collection operations for large-scale studies in elementary, secondary, and postsecondary education. Currently, she works on the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) for the U.S. Department of Education (ED). Prior to that, she served as a data collection manager on the National Postsecondary Student Aid Study (NPSAS) Institutional Data Collection team, as well as ED’s High School and Beyond Longitudinal Study. 

Ms. Vanspronsen’s expertise spans the entire research study process, including staff hiring, training, development, and management, participant recruitment and retention, in-person, online, and telephone-based survey interviewing and data collection, liaising with school-based personnel, procedure and protocol development, creating communication materials, and report and proposal writing. She is also a regular attendee, presenter, and contributor at several yearly conferences in the survey research industry.

A mental health practitioner by training, Ms. Vanspronsen previously served families and children as an outpatient and community-based therapist and services provider.
