Beatrice Tonui is a renowned public policy expert and a former county government minister for Agriculture in Kenya with a robust background in political economy analysis, public policy, sanitation, and agricultural market systems. As an expert in these fields, Beatrice has played a pivotal role in shaping and implementing policies that drive sustainable agricultural practices, food security, market-based sanitation (MBS), and menstrual hygiene across East Africa.  

Ms. Tonui has been at the forefront in addressing complex agricultural challenges, advocating for innovative solutions that enhance productivity and resilience within the sector. Her expertise extends to sanitation market systems, where she has effectively influence pro-business sanitation policies that enhance the uptake of market-based sanitation in western Kenya, currently under USAID's Western Kenya Sanitation Project implemented by RTI. 

In addition to her policy roles, Ms. Tonui is a Gender Youth Equity and Social Inclusion (GYESI) expert, with a proven history of developing programs that empower young people and vulnerable groups to equally participate in transforming sanitation and agriculture sector by ensuring a thriving and equitable future at the household levels.
