RTI International will be leading a symposium, “Across the Spectrum: Diversity of Tobacco Product Use,” during the 2018 Annual Meeting of the Society of Research on Nicotine & Tobacco on February 21-24 in Baltimore.
The symposium, which will be held from 8:30-10:00 am on February 24, will feature presentations from researchers at RTI, Duke University and elsewhere and will cover real-world topography (puff patterns) of e-cigarette users, an analysis of tobacco alkaloids in multiple tobacco products, a study of the effects of nicotine-containing e-cigarette liquid on mice, and results of a survey of young adults who use both e-cigarettes and tobacco cigarettes about how they would respond to hypothetical restrictions of e-cigarette products.
RTI researchers will also give several other presentations and posters during the annual meeting, with topics including the respiratory toxicity of e-cigarette aerosol, gas-particle partitioning in e-cigarettes and regular cigarettes, warnings about e-cigarette battery explosions, and awareness of smoking cessation resources among Medicaid enrollees.
SRNT is the largest conference for tobacco research and is well-attended by academic and non-academic researchers, representatives from many branches of state and federal government.
