Police Tech Webinar: Acquisition, Use, and Impacts of New Technologies
Date
RTI International's Policing Research Program invites you to participate in a free webinar titled Acquisition, Use, and Impacts of New Technologies in Policing on Thursday, July 19th from 2:00-3:00pm ET.
This webinar will bring together experts from RTI International and the Urban Institute, both nonpartisan, nonprofit research organizations, to examine the processes that law enforcement agencies use to determine whether and how to implement new technologies, as well as the impact of two leading technologies used in the field today.
Presentations include results from a qualitative study on technology and policing strategies, outcomes associated with the use of gunshot detection technology, and results from a randomized controlled trial on body-worn camera use among officers in Milwaukee.
Learning Objectives:
Participants will learn how law enforcement agencies approach technology identification, acquisition, and implementation with specific insights for body-worn cameras, license plate readers, and other core police technologies.
Results from an in-depth evaluation of gunshot detection technology will inform the participant how these alerts affect departmental knowledge of and officer responses to gunfire shooting events. Finally, participants will learn how body-worn cameras affected officer behaviors from a randomized controlled trial in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
