Growing a better tomorrow: Penn State’s land-grant mission, interdisciplinary collaborations, and the future of agriculture
As a land-grant institution originally founded as an agricultural school, Penn State University has a long and proud history of fostering innovation in the fields of agricultural education, research, and practice. In this lecture, Penn State President Neeli Bendapudi will discuss some of the groundbreaking research underway at the University to enhance global food security, combat emerging threats to agriculture, and advance sustainable, climate-smart agriculture practices. She will also explore how this vital work requires a purposefully interdisciplinary approach that not only crosses fields of study and practice, but actively engages stakeholders across different spheres of influence, including educational and research institutions, private enterprise, and public agencies — reflecting the immense potential of collaboration between institutions like Penn State, RTI, and their various partner organizations.
The presentation will be from 3-4pm, with a reception afterwards from 4-5pm.
