Shaojun (Jim) Zhou, Director of the Gas Separations program in the Energy Technology Division (ETD), will be presenting on RTI’s Non-Aqueous Solvent (NAS) CO2 Capture Process during the Session A3 - Pilot and large-scale testing (16:00 - Tuesday, 13th June, R1).
RTI and SINTEF, with funding from the US Department of Energy and Gassnova, have been working on advancing RTI’s non-aqueous solvent (NASs) technology for CO2 capture from flue gases. The process technology has the potential to substantially reduce the regenerator heat duty to 1.700 to 2.300 GJ/T-CO2 captured, a 30% to 50% reduction compared to state-of the-art post-combustion CO2 capture processes using conventional aqueous amine solvents. RTI has developed several generations of NAS and tested them at bench scale to verify performances. SINTEF has carried out pilot scale testing of NAS at its Tiller CO2 capture test facility using both propane burner derived and coal burner derived flue gases. The presentation will focus on these promising NAS formulations and their performances based on test results from RTI bench and SINTEF pilot test facilities
The biannual conference has, since its start in 2003, grown to become one of the leading scientific CCS technology conferences, and represents an important meeting place for CCS experts from all over the world. In 2015, The TCCS-8 offered 350 participants from 26 countries a high quality technical program consisting of 10 keynote lectures, 138 oral presentations (in six parallel sessions) and 101 poster presentations.
