Facing Our Challenges and Keeping Our Commitment in the Field of Gender and Substance Use
The International Women’s and Children’s Health and Gender (InWomen’s) Group is convening for it’s 14th InWomen’s Group Conference on Friday, June 10, with the option to attend virtually or in-person in Minneapolis, MN.
This year’s hybrid conference—sponsored by the National Institutes of Health’s (NIH) National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), the Southwest Institute for Research on Women (SIROW), the College on Problems of Drug Dependence (CPDD), and other private donors, and hosted by RTI International and the RTI Global Gender Center—will convene experts from around the world for four unique panel sessions on:
- The intersection of substance use, stigma, criminal justice, and drug trafficking
- Treatment, prevention, and gender-focused interventions for substance use
- The implications of using drugs while pregnant
- The role of support groups and provider-based trainings in survival and recovery.
In-person and virtual poster sessions will take place during the event as well.
This year’s opening introductions, led by Dr. Wendee Wechsberg, will feature special guest, Dr. Tetiana Kiriazova, Executive Director of the Ukrainian Institute on Public Health Policy, and Minneapolis social activist and poetess, Tegan Carr.
