RTI International and Geographic Technologies Group Partner to Make Sense of Public Safety Data

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC— RTI International and Geographic Technologies Group (GTG) have partnered to deliver a software package that integrates and analyzes 911 call data with GIS mapping data.

CFS Analytics converts complex calls-for-service data (often 911 data) to maps, graphs, charts, and other visualizations to better understand jurisdictions’ demands for public safety operations. The ability to utilize this data with our police research SaaS application enables command staff and crime analysts to more efficiently optimize resources.

GTG’s software, Vantage Points, is a public safety software product designed to leverage GIS-based tools for a diverse range of applications to assist local governments in harnessing the power of GIS to improve quality of life for their residents. When combining the power of GIS tools with calls-for-service data, police agencies can use their limited resources and personnel as efficiently as possible. It allows officers to gather insights for decisions around resource deployment by converting existing CAD data to create visualizations, including maps, charts, and graphs, that enable officers to quickly and easily identify trends and patterns around crime behavior. CFS Analytics can now also be combined with geographic information system (GIS) mapping technologies if additional analytical or operational capabilities are needed.

As the public demands increased accountability for all aspects of law enforcement functions, police agencies must justify operational and strategic decisions to demonstrate transparency and their commitment to public safety. CFS Analytics is designed to enable data-driven decision making to help law enforcement and other first-responders more efficiently deploy resources. Currently, CFS Analytics™ has been deployed at eight police agencies across the US ranging in size from 25 to 12,000 officers.

GTG provides software and consulting services to government agencies, including public safety, public works and utilities, land management, natural resources, public administration, public works and telecommunications. When working with public safety agencies, GTG focuses on providing solutions that promote safer communities.
