Further studies are needed to better define characteristics of mother-child interactions with MNP and differences in cross-cultural and intra-cultural manifestations. It is likely that current promotion efforts would benefit from reorienting key messages and activities to encompass strategies for MNP use as a dyadic interaction, as has been the case with breastfeeding promotion.
