Hospitalizations are difficult for everyone, but especially for older adults with dementia, as these admissions can lead to adverse health outcomes. Yet research shows hospitalizations occur more frequently in this cohort, especially in those living in community or in long-term-care facilities with no dementia unit. Using Health and Retirement Study data from 2000–2008, a new study shows rates of hospitalizations for people with dementia in nursing homes, in community, and toward the end of life.
