RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC- RTI’s International Education Division today announced the launch of SharEd, a new interactive online platform designed to easily share key reference materials with international education practitioners.
SharEd allows practitioners and researchers from donors, ministries, universities and other partner organizations to access a large library of technical resources authored by RTI staff, including analytical reports and articles, presentations, training materials, survey instruments and toolkits. The website makes it easy to search the more than 350 resources by country, topic, type and language and discover related resources. The site also features commentary from RTI’s international education experts.
The various research products available on SharEd cover a wide range of international education topics including early childhood development, early grade assessment and instruction, policy and systems support, evaluation, and information and communications technology. These materials have been developed under donor-funded projects as well as RTI’s internal research & development, and new resources will be continually added to the site as they become available.
“SharEd is a valuable resource for international education practitioners,” said Melinda Taylor, senior vice president for international education at RTI. “This platform shares the wealth of research, thought leadership and project resources accumulated through our work in international education over the past three decades. It will allow practitioners to learn from one another and help inform further advancements in international education research and practice.”
For example, one of the most popular resources on SharEd is A Guide for Strengthening Gender and Inclusiveness in Teaching and Learning Materials, prepared by RTI for USAID in 2015. Upon accessing this resource, visitors are automatically referred to similar resources including the French translation of the Guide and a related RTI Press publication, School and Classroom Disabilities Inclusion Guide for Low and Middle Income Countries. Visitors may also browse by topic to download helpful tools and resources, such as an Early Grade Reading Assessment toolkit, a video of a panel discussion on early childhood development, and a report on the use of scripted lessons plans in Malawi. They may also search by specific authors.
A leader in the field, RTI’s international education team of nearly 850 staff use evidence-based approaches to strengthen education policy, management, and practice at every level—from classrooms to national ministries—to achieve measurable improvement in education quality and, ultimately, learning outcomes. The team currently implements more than 30 projects and, in the last year, its experts have published more than 30 scholarly articles.
