RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. – RTI International and its staff members have donated $116,200 to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund for Hurricane Sandy.
The total includes a $50,000 contribution RTI made on Nov. 1 to aid relief efforts, and a subsequent contribution to match the $33,100 that RTI staff members raised between Nov. 2 and 9.
RTI President and CEO Wayne Holden presented the donations to representatives from the Central North Carolina chapter of the Red Cross Thursday.
"After just completing a successful United Way campaign that raised $345,000 for the less fortunate in our communities, I was pleased to see so many of our staff members contribute to those impacted by these storms," Holden said. "I am very proud to be associated with such a fine group of people."
The Red Cross is using donations to support wide-ranging relief efforts for those impacted by Hurricane Sandy and the nor’easter storm that again battered the region this past week.
