Shae Herndon is a research survey specialist at RTI with a passion for public health programs that target health disparities in disadvantaged populations. As a community outreach associate on the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), Ms. Herndon establishes relationships between community partners and NHANES to promote the study and its mission.

Ms. Herndon's prior work includes developing and implementing field staff training programs for the National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH). Additionally, as operations manger on NSDUH, Ms. Herndon worked with the national field director in managing field operations and field distribution center activities. Outside of RTI, Ms. Herndon proposed and designed a workshop series for female entrepreneurs in Eswatini, South Africa through Give Hope Fight Poverty (GHFP). The workshop series focused on activities to support small business growth and steps to prevent young women from engaging in high-risk behaviors that could lead to HIV/ AIDS.
