Caryn Willis is a bioinformatician at RTI with expertise in bioinformatics, omic analyses, and workflow development. In her project work, Caryn performs omic analyses to find differences associated with alcohol and opioid use disorders by leveraging new and existing datasets in the post-mortem human brain through meta-analysis. These analyses provide insight into the biology associated with substance use disorders.

Currently, Caryn supports multiple National Institutes of Health (NIH)-funded projects, using her bioinformatics expertise to improve existing workflows and create new workflows as needed. This allows for omic data processing and analysis to be both efficient and reproducible. Prior to joining RTI, Caryn spent time as a Bioinformatic Scientist at Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. During her time there, she researched single-cell RNA-sequence network algorithms for development of pipelines for tumor single cell analysis.
