Webinar: Stigma and MAT: A Data-driven Discussion of Policy and Public Education/Communication Priorities
Date
Join us as RTI expert, R. Craig Lefebvre, PhD, presents the findings from RTI’s survey of U.S. adults on their knowledge and opinions about addiction to prescription opioids, medication-assisted therapy (MAT), and stigma toward people addicted to prescription opioids and the health care providers who care for them. RTI is leading the field in its study of stigma and the impact it has within the opioid crisis, leveraging its extensive research and expertise from previous work researching stigma around HIV and marijuana.
In this webinar, we will discuss current approaches to conceptualizing stigma, the application stigma has on the treatment of opioid use disorder (OUD), and the implications of the survey findings for advocacy and program design.
As a result of this presentation, participants will be able to:
- Identify common perceptions and behaviors that reflect stigma
- Analyze how various aspects of stigma impact treatment of OUD
- Assess how anti-stigma efforts could be targeted to different population segments
