Presenters: Molly Lynch, MPH; Nikie Sarris Esquivel, MPH; Jessica Thompson, PhD; Kathleen Walker; Aileen Rivell, MPH; Alison Rodden
The COVID-19 pandemic has disproportionately affected some groups that are already at a higher risk for negative health outcomes. Communicating effectively with these high-risk groups requires understanding the knowledge gaps that may be barriers to protective health behaviors, including vaccination. Learn more about three recent projects aimed at understanding COVID-19-related knowledge gaps in specific high-risk groups, including persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities and extreme low literacy, people with chronic diseases, and respondents who chose to answer a national survey in Spanish (Spanish-dominant speakers).
The session moderator, Alison Rodden, is Chief Executive Officer of the Hispanic Communications Network and has worked on creating multicultural COVID-19 communications products for both English-dominant and limited-English proficiency audiences.
- Part 1: Knowledge Gaps about COVID-19 among Spanish Dominant-Speakers in the United States
- Part 2: Meeting the Information Needs of People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and Extreme Low Literacy
