Sixteen people die every hour from TB in Indonesia.
As the country with the second largest number of TB clients in the world – close to one million annual cases – Indonesia urgently needs to expand efforts to rapidly identify and successfully treat people with TB.
Along with the Government of Indonesia’s accelerated response and increased support from international donors and multilateral funding institutions, a re-thinking of current systems of care is needed and bold strategies must be put forward. There is not one solution to this crisis. Out-of-the-box thinking, widespread mobilization of diverse actors, and embracing an emergency outlook that builds on the lessons of the COVID-19 pandemic all must be part of a comprehensive solution.
In anticipation of World TB Day, join RTI International and Persahabatan Central General Hospital, Respiratory and Tuberculosis Research and Training Center (SATURATE), and the Indonesian Society of Respirology (PDPI) as we convene a group of dedicated TB experts to discuss Indonesia’s move to think differently in their TB elimination efforts.
