RTI welcomes Paul Jeffery as new director of environment within the International Development Group

Jeffery will leverage his 20 years expertise to advance RTI’s work protecting natural resources and combatting climate change


RESEARCH TRIANGLE INSTITUTE, N.C. – RTI International, a nonprofit research institute and leading international development organization, welcomes Paul Jeffery as its new director of environment within the International Development Group.  
 
As director of environment, Jeffery will manage and lead RTI’s work to integrate scientific expertise into technical approaches that protect biodiversity, combat wildlife crime, foster good environmental governance, build climate resilience and conserve and restore ecosystems. 
 
“We are excited to have Paul join RTI,” said David Spiro, vice president for food security, agriculture, environment and water at RTI. “Paul has more than 20 years of experience working in international development, his background and experience will help RTI advance and grow our portfolio of programs that preserve biodiversity and natural resources, help us adapt to climate impacts and improve livelihoods.” 

Jeffery has valuable leadership and technical oversight experience managing USAID funded environmental projects in the Philippines, Vietnam and Indonesia. He also served as Chief of Party of the USAID Indonesia Climate Adaptation and Resilience project building institutional and community resilience to the impacts of climate and weather-related hazards. He started his international career as a volunteer in West Timor, Indonesia in 1999.  
 
RTI’s environment portfolio implements programs in countries across sub-Saharan Africa, Asia and Latin America. We prioritize co-designing and co-implementing programs with local organizations, private sector companies and communities to leverage each other’s strengths and ensure our work creates lasting environmental and economic benefits.
