RTI Partners with National Technical Information Service to Improve Use of Data at Federal Agencies

RTI recently entered into a Joint Venture Partnership with NTIS and brings advanced capabilities in data science

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. — RTI International, a nonprofit research institute, on Monday announced it is the latest organization to enter into a Joint Venture Partnership with the National Technical Information Service (NTIS), a U.S. Department of Commerce program charged with helping federal agencies innovate in their use of data.

“We are thrilled to get started on this work with NTIS to help federal agencies meet their goals by leveraging data as a strategic asset,” said Gayle Bieler, MS, Director of RTI’s Center for Data Science. “The RTI team will bring its advanced capabilities in data science and creative problem-solving skills to this important effort.”

NTIS has a history of partnering with top private sector companies, nonprofits, non-governmental organizations and academic institutions through its Joint Venture Partnership program, which functions outside of the traditional government contracting process. Specifically, NTIS seeks out organizations with specialized skills and capabilities in applied data science, such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, robotics and cybersecurity to produce innovative solutions that support the federal government’s modernization efforts in the use, analysis, security and dissemination of data.

RTI’s work with NTIS through the Joint Venture Partnership program will fold into the broader aims of the President’s Cross Agency Priority (CAP) goals and the Federal Data Strategy 2020 Action Plan.

RTI’s applied data science experience involves working with federal agencies, foundations, and state and local jurisdictions to solve important national problems, improve our local communities, and transform research. Our work spans from the lab sciences to the social sciences, including public health, bioinformatics, criminal and social justice, public safety, survey research, education, and the environment.
