Work will support USAID’s Center for Water Security, Sanitation and Hygiene in the Bureau for Resilience and Food Security
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. — RTI International, a nonprofit research institute and leading international development organization, has been named a prime contractor on the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Water and Development II (WADI II) Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity Contract. WADI II, which has a seven-year implementation timeline, will support USAID’s contributions to the U.S. Global Water Strategy.
“We are thrilled to bring RTI’s world class water resource management and WASH tools and capabilities to support USAID and partner countries in achieving a more water-secure world as part of WADI II,” said Nicole Barnes, senior vice president of sustainable growth & resilience at RTI.
Billions of people lack reliable access to safe drinking water and sanitation, negatively impacting health, economics and resilience to shocks and stressors. In addition, water scarcity, droughts and flooding — all a result of climate change — are devastating communities.
“Our team understands the global impact that water insecurity and inadequate access to WASH services has on not only individual lives, but also other development objectives,” said Jennifer Kovolski, director of water services at RTI. “Given our background and expertise, this team is well positioned to work alongside key local stakeholders in developing collaborative solutions to the issues at hand.”
WADI II will support USAID to work with partner countries and stakeholders to improve health, prosperity, stability and resilience through sustainable and equitable water resources management and access to safe drinking water and sanitation services and hygiene practices.
WADI II is RTI’s latest partnership with USAID to support partner countries and communities in increasing access to safe, sustainable and climate-resilient water and sanitation services and strengthening equitable water resources management.
