Katy Suellentrop is an expert in adolescent health, including reproductive health, mental health and well-being and substance use prevention. She is passionate about integrating policy and systems change with behavior change programs to advance the health and well-being of populations, particularly youth and young adults. Her skills include designing and developing high-quality training and technical assistance experiences and using Human Centered Design to solve implementation challenges and engage community members. Past projects have involved a wide range of topics, including program monitoring and improvement, selecting evidence-based approaches for intervention, engaging diverse audiences (including parents and other trusted adults, health care providers, and policymakers), and developing strategies for special populations (including youth in foster care, college-age youth, and rural communities).

As a member of the Mental Health, Risk, and Resilience Research team, Ms. Suellentrop currently contributes to projects to support adolescent pregnancy prevention programs across the United States, improve mental well-being among school age youth, and address substance use prevention among youth and families.

Ms. Suellentrop joined RTI in 2019. Previously, she was Vice President of Programs at Power to Decide, formerly the National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy. She was an Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health Fellow at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. She is proficient in Spanish.
