Communication Science and Strategy

Creating and amplifying evidence-based solutions to address real-world challenges

RTI International’s communication scientists and strategists research, design, deliver, and evaluate evidence-based solutions to address real-world challenges across the domains of health, education, justice, and climate.

Building successful outcomes begins by conducting research to understand people’s behavior and the many factors that influence it. We draw on behavior change theories; use data, social marketing, and human-centered design principles; and leverage best practices to design and deliver communication solutions that capture attention, promote better decision-making, and motivate behavior change.

And we don’t stop there. We use advanced methods to evaluate how the communication solutions are delivered and whether they are effective. Our strategists and scientists collaborate to report findings in innovative ways to inform future initiatives and make data accessible.

RTI’s Communication Science Approach

We offer the following types of communication solutions:

  • Media materials, including press releases, social media graphics, web content, blogs, and articles
  • Written reports, manuscripts, policy and research briefs, and plain language summaries
  • Presentations and webinars
  • Education and promotional materials, including campaigns, video content, apps, decision support tools, toolkits, websites, data dashboards, and other educational materials (e.g., infographics, maps)
