International Environmental Services Projects: Uganda

Uganda Environmental Surveillance for Indoor Residual Spraying

Client/Agency

U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID)

Description

We are preparing an environmental assessment for DDT use as part of USAID's ongoing effort to provide support to the Ugandan Government for Indoor Residual Spraying.

As part of this assessment, we are designing an environmental monitoring program that includes multimedia, indoor, and outdoor measurements of any changes in environmental quality. The program will inform decision making, mitigation, and inspection practices at locations where DDT will be used. Drawing on our experience in planning and implementing environmental monitoring programs for the U.S. federal and state governments, we are helping determine the presence and extent of environmental contamination from indoor residual spraying using DDT.
