RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C.—RTI International has been selected as one of North Carolina's 2009 Family-Friendly 50 companies by Carolina Parent magazine.
The 50 employers were recognized for offering family-friendly workplace options and benefits that help employees balance work and family responsibilities.
Among the employee benefits for which RTI was recognized were having an onsite childcare facility as well as flexible work hours and lactation rooms for working mothers.
RTI also offers a parents support group, new-parent leave options, adoption reimbursement assistance, and a wellness program that provides health screenings and flu shots for employees and their family members.
"At RTI, we recognize the challenges working parents face in today's busy society," said Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Corporate Affairs Lorena Clark. "For us, accommodating these needs makes good business sense because it allows us to attract and retain highly skilled workers, and it also allows our working parents to contribute more fully to our business success."
RTI and the other winners will be recognized at two special events: the Women@Work Breakfast on Tuesday, Sept. 15, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at American Tobacco Bay 7 in downtown Durham and the Moms@Work Luncheon on Thursday, Sept. 17, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at The Westin Charlotte.
The Carolina Parenting N.C. Family-Friendly 50 Companies of 2009 were selected in partnership with UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School.
