Instructions for Authors
As RTI Press strives to reach a general audience, authors are invited to submit manuscripts that are clearly and concisely written without jargon or overly technical language. RTI Press considers manuscripts based on research, analytical tools and methods, and/or technical expertise; we do not publish advocacy or opinion pieces. All submitted manuscripts are screened for plagiarism and must not be concurrently under review elsewhere. All manuscripts must include at least one RTI author or editor. RTI Press does not charge fees to authors for peer-reviewed publications.
Submission checklist
- To prepare their manuscript, interested researchers should follow the RTI Press submission guidelines. Our submission guidelines describe different paper formats and policies for submission.
- Before submitting, authors should ensure compliance with our authorship and editorial policies, as well as our style guide. All manuscripts must include at least one RTI author or editor. RTI Press encourages authors to include ORCID iDs for all authors.
- RTI Press encourages all authors to run a plagiarism check (such as Microsoft Word Similarity Checker) before submission to identify any text that overlaps with existing materials.
- Authors should also prepare an author intake form to be included with their submission.
- Completed manuscripts and book proposals should be submitted via Scholastica. (Please note that Scholastica does not work with the Internet Explorer web browser. If IE is your default browser, please copy and paste https://rtipress.scholasticahq.com/for-authors into Edge, Chrome, Firefox, or Safari.)
For questions about RTI Press policies and potential submissions, contact Anna Wetterberg, Senior Manager, rtipress@rti.org.
Large Language Models Policy
Large language models (LLMs) are artificial intelligence tools that authors can use in various ways to conduct research and to develop manuscripts. LLMs cannot be listed as authors on any submission to RTI Press®, as they cannot assume responsibility and be held accountable for the content of the manuscript. If authors use LLMs to conduct research and/or to develop their manuscripts, they must disclose such use in the main text of the manuscript, including specifying which LLMs were used, in a manner similar to how they describe the use of other research tools and in line with any relevant client requirements. If a substantial portion of the text in a manuscript is LLM-generated, disclosure should come early in the manuscript to ensure readers’ awareness. Peer reviewers may not use LLMs when peer reviewing manuscripts for RTI Press. We rely on reviewers' expertise to evaluate manuscripts.
