Stefany Ramos is a research public health analyst in the Mental Health, Risk and Resilience Research Program at RTI. Dr. Ramos is experienced with online survey design and programming, participant interviews, project management, proposal writing, small group training, time series analysis, and policy analysis. She also has substantial training in econometrics, political institutions, and subnational politics. Her research interests include promoting public safety and racial equity through public policy and social determinants of health, and how interactions with the justice and education systems affect community behavioral health. She has in-depth knowledge of risk assessments in the criminal justice system, school-based mental health, and school emergency management. Dr. Ramos is currently the project director for an evaluation of a threat assessment system in a rural school district in North Carolina and leads the qualitative data collection and policy analysis of several other projects focused on community violence prevention.

Before joining RTI in 2021, Dr. Ramos spent over a decade conducting program evaluation and progress monitoring for a drop-out prevention program where she learned the art of community engagement, building partnerships, and sharing data. Before that, she taught at a Head Start in South Philadelphia working hand in hand with families and dedicated support staff. Those experiences as a practitioner continue to guide her research. Dr. Ramos is also a Board member of the National Prevention Science Coalition to Improve Lives (NPSC).
