Shirley Liu

Shirley Liu is a public health analyst who focuses on evaluating substance use prevention and adolescent mental health interventions across the United States. Ms. Liu has experience with both qualitative and quantitative research methods and is skilled in multiple survey programming and statistical packages.

She is currently a part of the National Institutes of Health’s (NIH’s) Helping to End Addiction Long-term® Initiative Prevention Coordinating Center, which facilitates data sharing and dissemination across 10 research projects that are working to prevent opioid misuse. Ms. Liu also leads or assists with data collection and analysis efforts with multiple federal, state, and local partners, ranging from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to local school districts.

Prior to joining RTI in 2021, she received a bachelor’s degree in public health at American University. Ms. Liu is now pursuing a Master of Public Health degree at the Milken School of Public Health at George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
