Research chemist

Education

MS, Analytical Chemistry, University of New Hampshire
BA, Chemistry, Assumption College

Ryan Chartier is a leader in RTI’s development of wearable personal exposure monitors, including the MicroPEM and the Enhanced Children’s MicroPEM (ECM). A member of our Air Quality and Exposure team, he applies expertise in aerosol physics, chemistry, and biology to a variety of projects.

Much of Mr. Chartier’s current work focuses on exposure to particulate matter, especially from biomass cookstoves, among vulnerable women and children in developing countries. To improve future studies involving children under the age of 5, he is optimizing the ECM so that it enables better compliance and provides higher-quality personal exposure data. He has also been instrumental in supporting MicroPEM users outside of RTI, and expanding the global reach of this novel technology.

Mr. Chartier joined RTI in 2010. He is a member of the American Chemical Society and serves on the U.S. Technical Advisory Group, International Organization for Standardization Technical Committee 285.
