Mustapha Soukri

Mustapha Soukri, PhD, has more than 20 years of experience in research and development in an industrial environment, relying on deep cross-disciplinary knowledge and scientific leadership skills. As the director of RTI’s materials and environment program, he has the ability to interface organic chemistry and materials development and has an intimate understanding of end-use applications such as energy processes, waste-to-energy, minerals recovery and environmental remediation.

Currently, Dr. Soukri’s work focuses on the development of novel and applied materials for energy applications, including sorbent materials development for carbon dioxide capture technology, particularly solid sorbent materials. He conducts research on novel organic and metalorganic compounds, including formulation, synthesis, characterization, and evaluation. Applications of his research interests include direct air capture of carbon dioxide, contaminant removal from wastewater, and conversion of greenhouse gases to high-value products.
