Mr. Todd Ennis has over 30 years of professional experience as a Geologist at RTI International. As such, he performs analysis of bulk insulation samples using polarized light microscopy (PLM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and gravimetric sample reduction techniques. He also analyzes air sampling filters for the presence and concentrations of crystalline silica using the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Method 7500. Mr. Ennis has successfully maintained accreditation for the analysis of respirable silica by the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) since 2009.

Mr. Ennis provides technical support for analyzing respirable silica by XRD in conducting the Industrial Hygiene Proficiency Analytical Testing (IHPAT) Program. Addtional, he provides technical support for laboratory fibrous minerals audit programs, including the National Institute of Standard and Technology’s (NIST’s) National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP) for bulk asbestos laboratories and AIHA’s Bulk Asbestos Proficiency Analytical Program. Mr. Ennis is NIOSH 582E certified and analyzes air sampling filters for the presence of asbestos and man-made fibers by using phase-contrast microscopy (PCM) by using NIOSH Method 7400 to conduct the IHPAT and Asbestos Analyst Testing (AAT) Programs. As the Program Manager for the AIHA’s Bulk Asbestos Proficiency Analytical Testing (BAPAT) Program, he is responsible for all financial management and client relation aspects for this RTI project. As Laboratory Manager for both the Optical and XRD Laboratories, Mr. Ennis maintains safe and efficient operations in each laboratory. He ensures that each laboratory remains staffed with adequately trained technical staff. Mr. Ennis supports education and outreach efforts at RTI by providing laboratory tours for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) when local school groups visit RTI. He provides technical support in analyzing particulate filters by PLM and XRD and technical support in the gravimetric analysis of particulate filters (PM2.5) for several clients.
