David Hines is a quantitative research biologist in the Analytics Practice Area at RTI. His research focuses on integrating disparate data sources to build actionable knowledge of relevant exposures, toxicological mechanisms, and human health outcomes. This includes the development of tools and techniques for integrating data using mechanistic frameworks. Dr. Hines' current work uses quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSAR), physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK), and in vitro to in vivo extrapolation (IVIVE) modeling to inform toxicity predictions. He is skilled in evaluating complex data sets and streamlining workflows for analysis, integration, visualization.

Prior to joining RTI in 2022, Dr. Hines was a senior computational toxicologist at Integrated Laboratory Systems, where he evaluated relevance and reliability of high-throughput screening methods and prediction tools to determine utility for regulatory purposes. He also worked as a biologist with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and with the EPA using predictive models to develop quantitative risk assessment measures for humans and other species.
