There's no "app" for development. But the right ICT tools can help achieve better outcomes.
RTI experts were among the expected 800+ attendees at the 2019 ICT4D Global Digital Development Conference in Kampala, Uganda. ICT4D brings together hundreds of public, private, and civil society organizations eager to share practical insights on applying digital technology to development, humanitarian, and conservation challenges.
As both a USAID implementing partner and a leading research institute with expertise in mobile technology, data science, statistical analysis, and more, RTI is uniquely capable of harnessing ICT to help lower- and middle-income countries improve the lives of their citizens and continue on their journey to self-reliance.

- Tuesday, April 30, 2:50 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. Robert Beach discussed RTI “Grand Challenge” research into using remote sensing, machine learning, and analytics to inform cost-effective and sustainable agriculture and food security policy in Rwanda. View the presentation here.
- Wednesday, May 1, 11:30 a.m. - 12:10 p.m. Annah Latané moderated a panel exploring recent and ongoing applications of ICT to integrate nutrition with agricultural market systems development activities, including in the Feed the Future Kenya Crops and Dairy Market Systems project.
- Thursday, May 2, 2:00 p.m. - 2:40 p.m. Deborah Nakyejwe, Program Coordinator, USAID/Uganda School Health and Reading Program (SHRP), discussed lessons learned from SHRP on the effectiveness of tablets in improving support for early grade reading teachers. View the presentation here.
