Governance expert brings more than 25 years of experience in international development
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. - RTI International, a nonprofit research institute and leading international development organization, has welcomed Rebecca Lawrence as its new director for its Center for Governance.
As the director Lawrence will provide management, leadership, and growth strategies, drive technical excellence and lead business development for the center, which was launched in late 2022.
“RTI’s governance projects around the world increase public sector performance, transparency and accountability,” said Nicole Barnes, senior vice president for international development at RTI. “We are excited to have Rebecca join the team as we continue to leverage data and evidence to promote strong, resilient and inclusive societies."
Lawrence comes to RTI from Social Impact, where she was vice president of the program management unit, overseeing U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) programs in Haiti, Mexico, Vietnam, Lebanon, Liberia, Mali, Somalia and Ethiopia.
She brings her passion and expertise in governance, urban development, service delivery, civil society and anti-corruption programs. Lawrence has a portfolio of more than 25 years in international development and experience leading global governance and stabilization teams.
The RTI Center for Governance includes partners, expertise and learning from major multi-disciplinary initiatives spanning Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean and Asia. The center works to strengthen and enable governments, civil society, the private sector and communities to jointly create sustainable and equitable governance solutions to pressing challenges such as climate change, conflict and forced migration in countries around the world.
